In January 2024 JVC trained a group of 27 lead farmers in Benin in Value Chain Development. The training was conducted in a blended form with Joost G.H. Vermeulen (JVC) delivering online theory, and Marc de Ruiter (Horti Synergy) facilitating on-site together with Green-Tech Benin and HAS green academy. The Remote teaching of JVC was implemented via TEAMS in 14 online-sessions of 1,5 hours in which the basics of Value Chain Development and its constraints/potentials was taught.

It is a follow up project funded by Nuffic Global Development with support from the Dutch Embassy in Benin. The key thought in improving the results of the farmers is to help them see that they are entrepreneurs in the value chains. Their role is the production of produces that are needed in the market.

JVC’s hope is to be back in a few years and see these entrepreneurs thriving in all areas of their lives and making an impact in the market, employing workers and providing top quality produce!
